Except from Chapter 9: “What is it Costing Me to Deny My Feelings” (pp. 71-73)
It was time to find that part of me with whom I long to reconnect. It was time to step into a new version of myself and try her on. What did she desire? How did she wish to feel? What excited her and made her feel good? What made her come alive? What did she need to do in order to become the very best version of herself?
What do you Desire? How do you wish to feel? What excites you? What makes you feel good? What makes you come alive? What do you need to do in order to become the best version of yourself? What’s one small step you can Take, right now, to set you in that direction? You, my dear, I need to know this: you are worthy beyond measure. You’re capable of anything to it she said your mind. You are lovable. No question. No doubt. Oh, yes you are. And, this may come as a shock to you: no one else can make you feel this way. It starts with you. You must believe this within yourself.
You must take accountability for how you want to act and how you wish to be treated in this world. It starts with you. It will always come back to this. The great question here in lies: how do you wish to live this life? It is absolutely, unequivocally, up to you.Risk is inherent in pretty much everything you do. You risk when you wake up in the morning. You risk when you get in your car to drive to work. You risk when you find love. You risk when you have children. You risk when you quit your job to go out on your own. You risk when you ask her what you truly want. The list is prolific.
Life is about risk. It is also about tremendous reward. Having the courage to stand in the face of fear and move tramp friendly past it gives you power and leverage to take control of your life.
What are you willing to risk to live a life that feels genuine and authentic and aligned with what you value in life?
